What is thermotherapy?

Image

Thermotherapy consists of a cyclic treatment which alternates between heat, cold, and rest. Long practiced in Nordic countries, the body and spirit has many benefits from thermotherapy.

10-15 minutes

Step 1 : Heat

Your system stocks up on heat and dilates the pores of your skin allowing toxins to be eliminated. Your body’s heart rate and blood circulation increase in preparation for the next step of the thermal cycle.

10-20 secondes

Step 2 : Cold

This step is the most important! It consists of reclosing your pores and creating an invigorating effect on the body. It is recommended to completely immerse yourself in cold water (oh yes, the head too, especially the head!) and focus on your breathing in order to stay relaxed. This vital step decreases your body temperature, strengthens your immune system, and improves blood circulation. At this step, the body produces adrenaline.

Step 3 : Rest

This essential step allows the body to calm down and regulate the nervous system. This allows for relaxing physical tension, encouraging relaxation and meditation. You’ll slowly feel the adrenaline leave your body to make way for endorphins. Pure delight!

Repeat the whole experience!

The benefits of the thermal experience

Embrace balance

Heat therapy gives you many benefits, both physically and psychologically. Blood circulation is improved, tensions ease up, the immune system is stimulated, the body invigorates, and the skin is more elastic. The toxins get eliminated, stress is reduced, and the quality of sleep is improved. Why pass it up!

Are there contraindications?

Image

Heat therapy is discouraged if you suffer from heart problems, high blood pressure, or low blood pressure. You should consult your doctor before using it. It is not recommended at all if you are pregnant. People undergoing cancer treatments or are in remission should also consult their doctor for heat therapy and all forms of massages.
